n this Olympic year one wonders every now and then what it would be like to be one of these amazing athletes. This is something that many a child dreamed of. Most of the time, these dreams were pushed aside for other goals, another training or another career pushing themselves to the fore. Ultimately, however, it takes more than excellent fitness or good health to rise to the Olympic elite.
determination
In
order to be able for keep up on these levels and to carry out competitions, you
need a good dose of determination. The athlete has to give himself
completely to the sport in order to learn all the necessary skills over the
years. Most of the time, great sacrifices are made in other areas of life
such as family, holidays or hobbies. Sure - someone who approaches his
discipline with an honest passion also finds it easier with these victims.
How
do you find the right determination for your workout? Meditate on it,
focus on your goals and what you want to achieve.
"If you fail to
prepare , you're prepare to fail" - Mark Spitz, USA gold medalist in
swimming
Competitive spirit
Without
a fighting spirit, no athlete would ever get better or get the idea of
wanting to be the best. That is also the essence of Olympia: the
ambition of each individual. Feed your fighting spirit and do your training
together with a friend: Which of you can do more repetitions?
“You've got to look
for tough competition. You've got to want to beat the best.
" –Grete Waitz, Norwegian marathon runner
Lots of practice
Practice
makes perfect: Successful athletes have decades of training experience. And
it's not about leisurely workouts: To get to the Olympics, you need many hours
a day, good trainers and different exercises to learn the necessary
skills. These workouts can be grueling and push the athlete to their limit
every day in order to keep developing. Exercising this hard all the time
isn't a must, but try to stick to a regular schedule. Ongoing exercise and
success will improve your performance and keep your body in top shape.
"You have to
train your mind and spirt like you train your body." -Bruce Jenner,
USA medalist in the decathlon
talent
It
is not absolutely necessary, but of course an advantage: talent. All those
who have the respective sport in their nature, of course, find it easier and
make progress easier - especially than someone who only starts sport later in
life.
When
you train, make movements that you also need in everyday life. This is how
you give your body the strength it needs for your routine.

beat the world; I just set out to do my absolute best. " –Al
