When it comes to fitness, the focus is often only on the terms training and nutrition. The topic of "relaxation" is usually neglected. While we know that our training, eating habits and physical recovery go hand in hand, the term "recovery" should be considered more closely.
At
EVO, we believe that proper regeneration consists of three different
parts. Each of these should be practiced alongside adequate exercise and a
healthy diet. The three parts are: physical recovery, stress management
and the influence of light.

·
Physical recovery
Most
of us think of sleep in a very classic way. But let's go a little deeper
here, because the quality of sleep is also crucial. Decent periods of deep
sleep help the body to recover better and thus increase performance.
Incidentally,
physical rest does not mean that you just have to sit around and not
move. A leisurely stroll certainly doesn't hurt. Another form can be
meditation, for example, which - if it is practiced daily - can also bring
mental and emotional relaxation.
·
Stress management
Long
and short-term stress can have a proven negative impact on our health and make
us sick. Chronic anxiety states or even depression lead to poor
"recovery", even in spite of regular exercise and good
nutrition. Unfortunately, in our fast-paced world, we rarely learn how to
deal with stress properly - and if so, usually only when it has already harmed
our body. There are simple techniques to cope with stress, for example
controlled breathing and breathing exercises, meditation or regular work
breaks.
·
Influence of light
How
often and what light we are exposed to has a major influence on our recovery
phases. Cell phones, tablets, laptops or televisions - our modern
environment is full of light. There is basically nothing wrongs with this,
but it has been shown to have a negative effect on our sleep at later
hours. This in turn has a bad effects on our recovery phases. If
possible, dim the lights down in the evening and avoid very bright devices.
