CALORIES: HOW MUCH IS ACTUALLY ENOUGH?

And what is the correct calorie intake?

That is an interesting question and cannot actually be answered without further key data. To do this, you have to look at the person's goal: does someone want to lose weight? Depending on this, the daily necessary calories can then be calculated.

How can that be calculated?

Simple - or complicated - formulas can be used to calculate roughly how much the body needs. Usually you take the size, weight and age. This is then used to calculate the turnover that the person without movement has. From this number you can then calculate how much is needed for everyday life.

Are these calculations reliable?

If you look at the person's health and life for a long time, definitely. What is important is the result of the respective calorie intake - that depends on a lot more: the composition of the food, food combinations, time of day at which you eat, you are hungry, how is your metabolism doing. As an example: Eating something after training has completely different results than eating exactly the same meal without training.

So if calories aren't that important when it comes to a healthy lifestyle, what then?

In certain cases, calorie control is certainly useful, but strictly speaking, it is actually useless for everyday life. In reality, it is important to listen to our body again: It gives us signals and acts according to certain mechanisms that ensure survival. These mechanisms also ensure that our body has a certain balance - including breathing, sleeping and also weight. Our body regulates itself and it usually gives us a sign when it needs something. We get hungry if we don't eat anything. Unfortunately, over time we have forgotten how to understand these simple signals - and that has a negative impact on our health.

And what does EVO think about calories and health?

At EVO we are of the opinion that we have to find our way back to our body - that means that we should concentrate on the very simple physiological signals again. Just listen to yourself and recognize the signs of hunger, thirst, your moods, stress or fatigue. Learn to perceive your body again. Because that increases your metabolism and brings your energy back instead of a stressful pursuit of your daily calorie intake. Your metabolism, your food intake and, as a result, your weight will level off - in a completely normal and conscious way.
